Visits and Diagnostics
Visits
Horses can be seen at home in their own environment or brought to the surgery. We have an off road car park which allows room for surgery visits. If you are bringing a large vehicle or are concerned that your horse may be startled by others in the car park it would be best to either a arrange a time which is not too busy or request a home visit.
Whether your horse is being seen at the surgery or at home if your horse is being vaccinated or you anticipate your horse needing medication be sure to bring your horse’s passport as we may need to sign this or see the passport for when prescribing certain medications.
If you feel that handling may be difficult for veterinary treatment please inform us of this before hand so we can discuss options for dealing with this.
Diagnostic Testing
Blood sampling: we have in house biochemistry and haematology machines which aid us in investigation of a number of illnesses. The remainder of blood tests will be sent for analysis at an external laboratory
X-ray: we have a portable x-ray machine in order for imaging to be performed as required mainly to aid in investigation of lameness where necessary
Faecal testing: faecal worm egg counts can be performed in the practice in order to treat for endoparasites appropriately
