History:
Blairgowrie Vets has been committed to providing the best GP care for local animals - pets and livestock alike - for over a century.
The practice was first established over 100 years ago by Mr. William Nairn. Initially the practice was based in Coupar Angus, but later moved into Blairgowrie and operated for many years from Heathpark House which was the private dwelling of Mr Grant Gordon. Mr Allan D. Campbell joined the practice as a partner in the business & Mr. L. Traub was an assistant. At that time the practice was a traditional rural farm & equine practice (mainly  working horses) with only a little small animal/pet interest. In 1979, when Mr. Gordon & Mr. Traub retired, the practice moved to its present location at Castle Street and Gillian Clark joined Allan Campbell as assistant, becoming a partner in 1981. While still remaining a mixed practice the small animal side was soon expanded. After Allan Campbell retired in 1989, Elizabeth Cameron joined Gillian and soon became a partner and helped to develop the practice further.

On-site laboratory - we can run a lot of tests at the surgery, including blood biochemistry and haematology,  urine analysis, microscopy and in-house tests to quickly diagnose common bacterial, viral and parasitic infections in both our large and small patients.

Digital x-ray - this enables us to take multiple images and see the results immediately. The quality of the images is very high which helps with diagnostic interpretation and also allows us to send our radiographs to an expert if necessary, for example with hip scoring for dogs before breeding.

Endoscopy - used to examine areas of the gastrointestinal tract otherwise would be difficult to reach.

Ultrasound - An method of producing images of the body using low frequency sound waves. This non-invasive technique can often help give information about conditions which are not easy to view in other ways.

Dispensary - We stock a very wide range of drugs, foods, dressings and other equipment. We have daily deliveries and can get any medication your animals need quickly and economically.

Dental machine - we have attachments for smaller animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters as well as cats and dogs.
